Mar Menor II Progressing Fast

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

The resort Mar Menor II is being built at rapid pace with structures of some of the apartments already up to the 3rd floor. Work is taking place throughout all of the resort and the area of Mediterranean Lands is the most developed. Mediterranean Lands is opposite the new Barcelo hotel and just outside the perimeter of the Polaris World Mar Menor resort. The ground floor will be dedicated to commercial space and one end will have a large supermarket.

Mar Menor II is the extension to the original Mar Menor Resort, the first resort to be built by Polaris.  The extension has a combination of apartments, townhouses and villas including the recently released Albor apartments, with large gardens or terraces. With the extension the golf course is being upgraded from a 9 hole course to an 18 hole course and many more sports facilities are being added, including pools, tennis courts and multi-sports pitches. The original resort already has the 5* Intercontinental hotel, which has been open nearly 2 years. It is located about 5 minutes from the beach at Los Alcazares, a Spanish beach town on the Mar Menor Sea in Murcia, and is only 10 minutes away from Murcia San Javier airport.

La Isla del Condado Taking Shape

Friday, April 25th, 2008

la_isla_de_condado_apartments.jpgThe island apartments at La Isla de Condado are now well underway. The structure of the apartments is already up to the second floor, with the foundations having gone in earlier this year. The apartments will be surrounded by a very large lake on all sides, creating amazing views. Residents will access the island from a bridge at one end, where there will be 24 hour security gates. The island will have 3 vanishing edge swimming pools, leading onto the lake and also there will be a bar and gymnasium on the island. Although the apartments are not due to be completed until next year, they have nearly all sold.

La Isla is part of the Polaris World Condado de Alhama resort, which will have 3 Jack Nicklaus golf courses as well as a very wide range of facilities, including shops, bars, restaurants, spa and sports facilities. The resort is located close the Spanish beach town of Mazarron in the Costa Calida.

Work Starts on Oasis Centre at Condado de Alhama

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Work at the Oasis town centre at Condado de Alhama resort is now underway. The land has been levelled and the infrastructure is starting to be put into place. The Oasis centre will have over 60,000 square metres of commercial space and it will cover an area of over 70,000 square meters, making it one of the largest shopping centres in Murcia. The centre is located at the heart of the Condado de Alhama, making access easy from all parts of the resort. The shopping centre will be surrounded by a large lake and the Moroccan architecture will be complemented with wide walkways and water features.

The commercial centre will include a wide range of shops, bars, restaurants, a large spa and supermarket. The restaurants will cater for all tastes, with a variety of budgets and cuisines. Commercial space is available for sale at the resort and a number of the units have already been sold. Polaris World will also be running a number of the services in the centre. It will be open to both residents of the resort and local people, which is attracting large shop chains as well as people looking to move to Spain and set up a business.

The centre will be complemented with smaller areas of restaurants and bars around the resort, including the golf club house at the Jack Nicklaus Signature course.

New Dual Carriageway Opens in Murcia

Friday, April 18th, 2008

The new dual carriageway connecting Alhama de Murcia with Cartagena has just opened. The road has been in construction for over a year and it will significantly reduce journey times in the region.  The old road meandered through the rural villages and countryside, while the new road bypasses Fuente Alamo and the villages to create a direct route across this area of the Costa Calida. Large new roundabouts and flyovers have been built along the whole stretch of road with slip roads connecting to local areas. The road has partly been built to help serve the new private regional airport at Corvera, which will be opening in a couple of years time.

The road is just part of a large development of infrastructure in the Murcia region. In the last year, a brand new motorway opened, connecting Cartagena with Almeria and also a dual carriageway from Totana to Mazarron. Another dual carriagway in the same area is well underway and is due to open later this year.

Condado de Alhama resort will benefit most from the road that has just opened, as it will make access to the Roman town of Cartagena quicker and also speed up access to the 6 other Polaris World resorts in Murcia.  It will also provide a fast connection to Murcia city centre, where last year a large new shopping centre opened.

Bamboo Restaurant and Bar Opens

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

The Bamboo Restaurant and Bar is now open at La Torre Golf Resort. The ultra-modern bar serves cocktails and a wide range of food including sushi and delicious burgers. Every Friday and Sunday night there is live music in Bamboo and the venue has been designed so there is plenty of space for both dancing and for chilling out. Large sofas provide comfy spaces to sip a drink and relax. One of the highlights of the restaurant, is the swimming pool and decking area, surrounded by Polaris World furniture and a multitude of sunloungers. The Bamboo restaurant is in the middle of the largest lake at La Torre and is accessed by two wooden bridges, near the pizza restaurant and the pub.  The swimming pool is on one side of the restaurant and has views over the lake to the golf, the 5* Intercontinental hotel and the rest of the La Torre centre.

All the staff are dressed in white linen uniforms and the high ceilings make Bamboo very light and airy. It will be a great venue on hot summer evenings, when you can chill out by the pool and order a drink from the terrace bar.

Bamboo is the 8th restaurant/bar to open at the resort, after El Roble, Pinos, Encina, Acacia, Limonero, Woodhouse and the Irish Pub. The ice cream and juice parlour is also near to Bamboo and the Intercontinental is really starting to take shape. La Torre Golf Resort was the second Polaris World Resort to open and has an 18 hole golf course.
